Job summary

Kelly Services in Troy, MI is seeking a reliable Machine Operator to operate, set up, and maintain metalworking equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

You will read job specifications, perform setup and minor maintenance, and ensure product quality with zero non-conformances. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety, and collaboration with teammates on a 1st shift schedule (6:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday) with overtime possible.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing and machine operating experience.
  • Experience working with metal parts preferred.
  • Moderate term of on-the-job training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
  • Ability to write and complete production reports.
  • Reports directly to Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and tend machines to cut, shape, weld, and bend metal materials
  • Monitor machine operation and detect malfunctions
  • Position and secure workpieces using manual or mechanical methods
  • Align layout marks with die or blade
  • Remove jammed pieces from machines safely
  • Set machine stops or guides to the specified length
  • Perform material and tool changes; complete setup and minor maintenance after training
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning
  • Read job specifications to determine adjustments and material needs
  • Inspect and measure workpieces for accuracy, ensuring zero non-conformances
  • Review and work according to current job instructions and quality standards
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from finished pieces
  • Complete daily production paperwork efficiently
  • Maintain housekeeping of the machine and work cell
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain productivity
  • Assist in training other operators as required

Job Title: Machine Operator

Shift: 1st Shift (6:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday) Possible overtime

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Location: Troy, MI

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Machine Operator to operate, set up, and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment used in the production of metal products. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to meet fast-paced production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and tend machines to cut, shape, weld, and bend metal materials

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Exposure to distracting noise levels

  • Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions

  • Operation of hazardous equipment

  • Frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25lbs

  • Occasional lifting up to 50lbs

  • Use of job-specific PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • Flexibility to work weekends or overtime as needed

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing and machine operating experience

  • Experience working with metal parts preferred

  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions
