Job summary

NextGen Bioplastics is seeking a diligent Machine Operator to run extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, and injection equipment, and to monitor output for quality.

You will set up machinery, document production data, follow SOPs and safety rules, and collaborate with maintenance and quality teams in a fast-paced environment.

Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plastics manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality bioplastic products safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production and quality standards. This hands‑on role supports daily manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment is properly set up, products meet specifications, and production goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, including extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, and injection molding.
  • Set up equipment according to production specifications and perform basic machine adjustments.
  • Monitor production output to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and consistency.
  • Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance.
  • Accurately record production data and report equipment or production issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, warehouse, and quality personnel to meet production objectives.
Quality & Safety
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and work instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and required PPE.
  • Identify and report quality, safety, or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Support housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production area.

Preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, warehousing, or distribution.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing, including extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, or injection molding.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
  • Basic inventory, shipping, or receiving experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in industrial manufacturing environment around noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform assembly and packaging tasks.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and access platforms.
  • Lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
  • Safely wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Stand and walk for the duration of a 8 - 12 hour shift.
  • Work overtime, weekends, adjusted schedules, or on‑call hours as needed.
