The North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) is designated as an emergency response Division and is a team of professionals who provide forest protection, resource management and environmental education to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through a variety of programs. The NCFS provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina.
Work may involve traveling away from home for extended periods. Work hours are typically 8-5, Mon-Fri, but some work functions require evening, holiday, and/or weekend work.
NC Forest Service has emergency response duties mandated by law. Wildfire and disaster/emergency assistance require year-round readiness, 24/7, and may require extended hours and on-call availability.
Overnight travel is sometimes required.
Environmental exposures include adverse weather, pests, falling limbs, hunters, cramped conditions, heat, dust, smoke, and debris.
Occasional heavy lifting required.
Participates in incident management teams as assigned.
Residency within Dare, Hyde, Tyrrell, Washington County is required.
Duty Station Location: 104 Hwy 264 East, STUMPY POINT, NC 27978
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience/education.
Necessary licenses or certifications to operate assigned vehicles or equipment.
