Job summary

Ohio Laser, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Laser Cutting Operator to set up and run laser cutting machinery, load materials, and inspect parts to engineering specifications.

You will document production steps in the ERP system, perform deburr and secondary operations when needed, and maintain a clean, safe work area in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
  • Knowledge of metric and inch measuring systems.
  • Strong math and geometry skills for dimensioning.
  • Experience with ERP and CNC software and NC code.
  • Familiarity with lift trucks and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machine and adjust parameters.
  • Load materials, run cuts, inspect and document parts per drawings.
  • Input time, material, and quantity into ERP system.
  • De-burr, deburr parts with grinders and sander as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized work area; perform routine maintenance.
  • Identify and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Follow safety rules and wear PPE as required.
  • Operate lift truck to move materials and finished parts.
  • Read and follow work orders and production schedules.
  • Coordinate with next operation and ensure quality compliance.

Job description

Job Description -Sets up and operates CNC Laser Cutting Machine, load material, cut, inspect & document parts, de-burr, skid or box and deliver to next operation.

Duties:
  • Set up and operation of CNC machine and basic machine parameters.
  • Use CAM nesting, ToPs and other software on machine.
  • Perform “First Piece Article” inspections and document part dimensions per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Input time, material, quantity produced into ERP software.
  • Understanding of Company quality program.
  • Material identification to facilitate selecting and transporting from storage to machine, properly identify left over raw material for return to inventory location and proper disposal of scrap.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance on machine as directed.
  • Keep machines and work area clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Runs secondary operations on other machines when required or time allows.
  • De- tab and de-burr parts with grinders and sander.
  • Reports any discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Wear safety equipment and follow all safety rules and procedures as required and directed.
  • Other duties may be required as assigned.
Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use and care for precision measuring equipment and tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other tools and gauges.
  • Knowledge of bothmetric and inch measuring systems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing ERP software, Windows software and CNC software and NC code.
  • Operate a lift truck (license).
Education/Training:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
