Job summary

SMS Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator in Columbia, IL. The role involves setting up and operating machinery on a production line, reading work orders, and monitoring performance to ensure quality.

We offer a temp-to-hire path with first/second shifts, weekly pay, bonuses, PTO, and opportunities for overtime, growth, and advancement in a safe, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines based on work orders (written or verbal).
• Use gauges and hand tools to adjust materials and monitor machine performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting as needed.
• Complete changeovers and record data.
• Lift items regularly up to 50 lbs and up to 100+ lbs with assistance.
• Stand, bend, and move throughout shift.
• Monitor equipment and product quality with vision and coordination.

Machine Operators - Multiple Openings in Columbia, IL !

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Location: Columbia, IL

Job Type: Temp to Hire

Pay: Up to $18.00/hr. (based on experience)

Shifts Available: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday to Thursday)
2nd Shift, 4:30 PM - 3:00 AM (Monday to Thursday)

What you'll do as a Machine Operator:

• Set up and operate machines based on work orders (written or verbal)
• Use gauges and hand tools to make adjustments, materials and monitor machine performance throughout the run.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting, as needed
• Complete changeovers and record operational data
• Lifting items to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally 100+ lbs with assistance
• Standing, bending, and moving throughout your shift
• Use of vision and coordination to monitor equipment and ensure product quality

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 6 months of machine operator experience required
• Able to read and follow job instructions and material specifications
• Comfortable using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on environment
