Job Title: Machine Operator – ABG Digital Finisher
Job Description

As a Machine Operator for an ABG Digital Finisher, you will set up, operate, and maintain printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality label orders efficiently and with minimal waste. You will install materials and components, monitor press performance, and make real-time adjustments to meet production schedules and customer specifications while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate the ABG Digital Finisher to print and finish label jobs according to production priorities and specifications.

  • Install paper, cylinders, perf wheels and blades, and ink to prepare the press for each job.

  • Adjust machine settings such as speed, tension, ink levels, and viscosities to maintain consistent print quality.

  • Produce printed orders in the most efficient manner, maximizing run time while minimizing waste.

  • Follow the priority order for jobs as determined by the Press Supervisor and complete work within required timeframes.

  • Inspect labels and finished product during and after production to ensure they meet quality standards and customer requirements.

  • Complete daily score sheets accurately by recording the amount and type of work performed.

  • Clean the printing press and surrounding work area at the end of each shift to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

  • Perform routine maintenance on the press and other equipment to support reliable operation.

  • Follow all production, safety, and quality procedures during machine operation, inspection, and packaging activities.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues and improve production processes.

  • Participate in approximately four weeks of training on the Monday–Thursday day shift to learn equipment and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production goals.

Essential Skills
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, or a similar environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Proficient understanding of basic production and machine operation principles.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, production documents, and work orders.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and create simple correspondence and memos.

  • Good verbal communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and team members.

  • Good written communication skills for completing score sheets and basic documentation.

  • Ability to perform inspection tasks to verify product quality.

  • Ability to work on a set schedule that may include weekends and evenings.

  • Ability to complete approximately four weeks of training on a Monday–Thursday day shift regardless of assigned long-term shift.

  • Ability to walk, stand, grasp, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, and use manual dexterity for prolonged periods.

  • Ability to hear and speak clearly and use color vision for print and label inspection.

  • Ability to regularly carry and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality when inspecting printed materials.

Work Environment

This role is based in an older but generally clean printing facility that focuses on label production rather than heavy industrial work. You will work around printing and finishing equipment and be constantly required to walk, stand, grasp, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, and use manual dexterity for extended periods. Regular use of hearing, speaking, and color vision is necessary for safe and accurate machine operation and product inspection, and you will routinely carry and lift up to 50 pounds. The operation runs multiple shifts, including Friday–Sunday 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Friday–Sunday 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m., and Monday–Thursday 4:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m., with required training on a Monday–Thursday day shift for about four weeks. You will work in a production environment where appropriate work attire is expected to ensure safety and comfort around machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.11/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
