Job description

Overview

Directs quick and efficient changeovers both on machines and new product changes. Programs, sets up, troubleshoots, and maintains all packaging equipment. Directs packers on how to pack the product most efficiently.

Responsibilities

Review all pertinent SOPs and serve as a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position.

  1. Set up the machine before the shift begins.
  2. Change packaging materials as needed; ensure packaging materials are correct and properly positioned in the machine.
  3. Communicate all necessary information to the oncoming shift machine operators.
  4. Monitor and adjust weight control of packaged units.
  5. Record all lot information as required.
  6. Maintain standard production quantities/rates for each product.
  7. Ensure codes are accurate and in the correct format.
  8. Maintain company standards for cleanliness, food safety, and productivity in the packaging area.
  9. Replenish packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.
  10. Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions; make minor adjustments/repairs; communicate mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
  11. Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs; assure conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.
  12. Strive to be a safety solutions leader by maintaining a 200% safety mindset. Participate in engagement activities, complete required safety training, and aid in hazard identification using BBS and Safety Monitor programs.
  13. Participate in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred.
