Job Description
Job Summary:
Router Operators are responsible for ensuring that the specifics of a job requiring cutting on a large router are understood and followed before cutting printed work. The role involves precise cuts using large machinery and requires an eye for detail to ensure finished print jobs meet specifications. The position also focuses on meeting efficiency and quality standards for each job.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take printed stock and cut to the proper dimensions as specified on the production order.
- Operate a large router to make detailed custom cuts for various types of printed stock.
- Read work orders and verify all fabrication requirements before beginning the cutting process.
- Cut according to priorities set by leadership.
- Report issues related to signage to be cut to management.
- Report machine operational issues to management and/or maintenance.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting other departments.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- At least 6 months of machine operating experience.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage large workloads while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
- Meet deadlines and minimize workflow disruptions.
- Basic knowledge of math, fractions, and percentages.
- Ability to pass a basic skills test.
- Effective communication skills in English (reading, speaking, writing, understanding).
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Availability for weekend shifts and overtime as required.
- Safety-conscious with the ability to perform tasks safely.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented with a positive contribution to GSP culture.
Physical Demands:
- Use of PC/Keyboard: working on computers, using keyboards, and viewing monitors.
- Standing for entire shift.
- Lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
- Carrying objects, often holding in hands, arms, or on shoulders.
- Reaching in various directions.
- Feeling: ability to distinguish textures and material gauges.
- Talking: providing instructions and exchanging information clearly.
- Hearing: understanding instructions and detecting machine noises.
