Job summary

NRP Jones is seeking a skilled Screw Machine Operator to operate 6 or 8 spindle machines, load bars, and cycle equipment. You will read blueprints, monitor tooling, and communicate with coworkers to ensure efficient production and safety.

Job description

Position Overview

Operate 6 or 8 spindle screw machines to fabricate parts. Load steel bars, cycle machines, detect malfunctions such as warnings or damaged cutting tools. Run production lots, communicate with co‑workers regarding production runs and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate one or more screw machines
• Read and understand blueprints
• Set up machine(s) for different parts being run and maintain acceptable setup times
• Able to sharpen tools
• Read micrometers and calipers
• Inspect and check quality of work as directed by foreman
• Maintain production efficiency
• Clean and lubricate assigned machines

Qualifications

• Mechanical background
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Use and be familiar with measuring tools
• Understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Ability to perform basic housekeeping chores

Education

• High school diploma or GED, or experience in a manufacturing environment with some mechanical background required.
• If not a fully qualified operator there is a training period offered. The training begins with Trainee‑Apprentice with progression to Class A setup & Fully Qualified Operator.
