Job summary

Service Wire Company, a premier supplier of industrial and utility wire and cable, seeks a Machine Operator in Houston, TX. You will prepare and setup production machines, operate equipment, monitor wire quality, and record fabrication data to ensure defect-free products per specifications.

Shifts available: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, with comprehensive benefits including insurance, PTO, and 401(k). In this role you will transport materials as needed and contribute to a safe, productive production floor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 1 year related industrial experience.
• Strong math and measuring skills.
• Ability to read, comprehend and respond to general instructions, both oral and written.
• Cooperatively works with manufacturing and other employees.
• Must work in hot and cold environments without climate-control.
• In-person attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Set up and position payoff, feeder, and take-up for production.
• Operate machinery and adjust controls per specs.
• Monitor wire quality during production and finish goods.
• Lubricate machinery parts and perform basic maintenance.
• Observe operation and report equipment malfunctions.
• Record daily production data with accuracy.
• Maintain safety standards and clean workspace.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Summary:

Our Machine Operators perform preparation setup of production machine(s). They also operate manufacturing machinery, monitor wire quality, and record fabrication data to ensure defect-free products as defined by industry regulations and customer specifications. Additionally, they transport wire and materials throughout facility on a forklift.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare and setup machine for production by positioning the payoff, feeder, and take-up
• Operate the machinery by adjusting and maintaining production controls according to specifications
• Monitor the quality of wire during production and the finished product
• Perform routine lubrication of machinery parts and minor preventative maintenance
• Observe machine operation for equipment malfunction and report immediately
• Record detailed daily production data
• Maintain safety standards and clean work environment
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or one year related industrial experience or equivalent training
• Demonstrate strong basic math and measuring skills
• Ability to read, comprehend, and respond to general instructions, direction, and correspondence, both oral and written
• Cooperatively works and interacts with members of the manufacturing department and other company employees
• Must be able to work in hot and cold environments without climate-control.
• In-person attendance is an essential function of the job

Shift Schedule and Information

• Must be available to work one of the following times:
  - 1st Shift - 6:45am - 3:15pm
  - 2nd Shift - 2:45pm - 11:15pm
  - 3rd Shift - 10:45pm - 7:15am
