Schedule: 7am - 2:30pm or 4pm - 11pm
Rate Range: $21.98 to $28.00
Contract to Direct

OVERVIEW: Looking for a machinist who can set up and operate OD/ID machines. Must be able to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, depth, and angle of grind, or adjust commands. Understanding tolerances and measurements is essential. Experience with Wire EDM machines is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY: Operates one or more production machines based on blueprints, sketches, and route sheets. Works with general guidance in a team environment. Seeks ways to increase productivity and reduce costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Sets up and runs production machines, performing operations like cutting, grinding, and deburring parts, with materials, tooling, and sequence of operations pre-planned. Makes machine adjustments and reports issues.
2. Performs operations to close tolerances.
3. Aligns and fastens parts using fixtures and established methods.
4. Adjusts feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to ensure quality parts, following documentation.
5. Removes burrs, sharp edges, and irregularities from machined parts.
6. Inspects parts for conformance using measuring instruments and visually checks for burrs and damage.
7. Maintains equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability as per division requirements.
8. Performs statistical process control (SPC) regularly and accurately.
9. Follows all safety policies, maintains a clean work area.
10. Performs additional related duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

1. Two years of related machining experience.
2. Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and follow verbal instructions.
3. Knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
4. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
5. Proficiency with reports, job-specific software, and employee self-service systems.
6. Participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development.

Physical and Mental Demands: Must be able to walk, stand, sit for extended periods, demonstrate manual dexterity, and operate machinery. Vision requirements include close vision. May need to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular attendance and professional cooperation are expected.
