Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is hiring for a Manufacturing Operator in Fort Wayne, IN to run assigned machinery in a high-speed production setting. You will perform setup, troubleshoot minor issues, and ensure SOP and GMP adherence within a wet, cold manufacturing environment.

We seek candidates with 1–4 years of related experience, strong teamwork and communication for shift handoffs, and the ability to stand for long periods while meeting production targets.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years in a high-speed manufacturing or food production facility.
• Basic technical knowledge of ice cream production or similar food manufacturing processes.
• GMP standards and food safety training.
• Experience managing small team dynamics and shift hand-offs.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machinery per SOPs.
• Set up, de-kit, and store equipment; report faults to Maintenance.
• Drive production to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
• Coordinate local work team efforts, including breaks and line rotations.
• Follow clean as you go principles and maintain equipment cleanliness and safety.
• Participate in GMP, hygiene, and safety audits to improve scores.
• Reduce waste and monitor rejections to improve efficiency.
• Own tasks from start to finish and seek continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Run assigned machinery within required parameters and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Technical Maintenance: Correctly set up, de-kit, and store equipment; troubleshoot and report mechanical faults to Maintenance and incoming shifts.
• Production Targets: Drive the manufacturing process to meet daily, weekly, and monthly output goals.
• Shift Leadership: Coordinate local work team efforts, including managing breaks, lunches, and line rotations.
• Sanitation: Follow "clean as you go" principles, ensuring machines are organized and free of stagnant water without causing water damage to equipment.
• Safety Culture: Maintain a positive safety culture, ensuring all health and safety requirements are met to reduce year-over-year accidents.
• Audit Readiness: Participate in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), hygiene, and safety audits to ensure consistent score improvements.
• Waste Reduction: Monitor the process to reduce rejections and minimize packaging waste.
• Ownership: Treat the facility with the same care as one's own home and take full responsibility for tasks from start to finish.
• Continuous Improvement: Seek diverse perspectives to improve efficiencies and value open dialogue regarding operational failures and successes.
• Working hours: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills

• Industry Experience: At least one year of related experience in a high-speed manufacturing or food production facility.
• Process Knowledge: Basic technical knowledge of ice cream production or similar food manufacturing processes.
• Safety & Quality Training: Previous exposure to GMP standards and food safety regulations.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive movements, and lift/reach frequently in a fast-paced environment.
• Environmental Adaptability: Comfort working in wet, humid, noisy, and cold refrigerated environments (using required PPE).
• Education & Age: Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
