Job summary

Magnum Ice Cream Company is seeking a Multi-skilled Technician to optimize maintenance of factory equipment and improve production line performance. You will diagnose failures, determine root causes, and influence design improvements while maintaining a safe work environment to boost quality and reduce waste.

The role requires hands-on mechanical, electrical, and control systems expertise, and involves supporting a team on the line through data-driven problem solving and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge to support production line maintenance and safety.

The role

The Multi-skilled Technician is a Preventative Maintenance and Focused Improvement specialist engaged to optimize the running and maintenance of equipment within the factory. Where breakdowns occur, the multi-skilled technician will act to diagnose and troubleshoot failures, look for root causes, and where necessary will recommend design improvements. This person will be responsible for setting the Maintenance Strategy for the respective production area. The Technician is professionally competent and qualified to operate safely with a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial controls. She/he must be mentally agile and a problem solver. They are to be actively engaged in maintaining a safe work environment, which increases production efficiency, protects product quality, and reduces waste. A teammate that will be an active participant on the line technical team, help drive performance improvements, waste reduction projects, and cost savings opportunities.

What you'll be responsible for

Mechanical Skills:

Must have the knowledge and technical skills to ensure effective support to the production line technical team, focused on delivering performance targets, and contributing to improved safety, quality, sustainability, and cost.

Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Plan - Yearly, Monthly, Weekly Planning

Understanding of Mechanisms and Mechanical Motion

Spare Parts Planning

Electrical Skills:

Remove and replace electrical components (such as motors, switches/drives)

Troubleshoot electrical circuits safely.

Understand and Troubleshoot distribution systems and electrical control circuits.

Understand electrical drive systems and control Loops.

Instrumentation and Control Skills:

Demonstrate an understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their software. (Allen Bradly or other)

Amend control and software documentation.

Ability to learn and understand the factories networks, servers, and firewalls.

A technical mindset that can learn and adapt to change.

Ability to understand controls and software for secondary support equipment such as vision systems. (Example: Cognex DataMan Cameras)

Efficient communications and operations of the improvement process.

Interprets, applies and enforces all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.

Ability to become HAZWOPER certified, be an emergency response member and have knowledge of the EAP (Emergency Action Plan).

We're looking for someone who Experience to support report writing, data analysis, problem solving, mechanical calculations, leadership, and coaching skills. Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.

Associate degree and/or technical certificate

Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses, etc., emergency cover and complete any work deemed necessary by the leadership team.

Ability to navigate and use web-based programs such as Buildapp, Weever, Megamation, DFOS and Smartcall

Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.

Strong coaching and communication skills.

Proven analytical skills.

Currently in a maintenance role.

Business Awareness – Understanding of the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business and increasing the company's share.

Ability to apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses utilizing UMS

Preferred qualifications:

Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company

Experience as a team member within a project Management team with an awareness of project management tools and technique.

Two years manufacturing, mechanical or technical experience

Knowledge of structured text programming platforms

Knowledge of robotics and their control systems.

Work environment

Work is performed on the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time.

PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, bump caps and sanitary, safety toed, electrical rated footwear and arc flash uniforms. In addition, there will be exposure to allergens such as dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean and cinnamon. There will also be exposure to chemicals and gasses such as ammonia.
