Silgan Closures in Evansville, IN is hiring a Machine Operator to operate automatic strip fed presses, luggers and ovens. You will load materials, monitor quality, perform basic setup adjustments and record data.

• Inspect caps visually and with test blocks, record data in SPC system.
• Grease, oil and maintain machines; assist mechanic as needed.
• Keep work area clean and safe; work across shifts.

What You’ll Do

• Operate automatic strip fed press, lugger, compo machine and oven
• Load strips into the magazine of press
• Responsible for quality of production
• Inspect caps visually with test blocks.
• Inspect caps using automatic gauging equipment and enter date into SPC system
• Remove full cartons of caps from underneath counter
• Position empty cartons on conveyor
• Seal and stack full cartons on skids
• Fill out labels for finished boxes
• Monitor and make adjustments to cap height, lug length, plastisol thickness as necessary
• Remove jams
• Monitor AVI rejects and determine responsibility of defective product. Notify supervisor of findings.
• Grease and oil machines
• Occasionally assist the mechanic as needed
• Keep assigned work area neat and clean
• Relieve as required
• Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor
