Job summary

Custom Engineering Co. is seeking 1st and 2nd shift Full-time Machine Operator in Erie, PA. The role expects machining and blueprint-reading skills, with an hourly wage up to $22.00 plus a $2.00 second shift differential.

You will set up machines, measure with calipers/micrometers, inspect parts, and work from blueprints. Benefits include 401K, health/dental, and more.

Qualifications

• Prior machining experience is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and layouts.
• Knowledge of tooling speeds/feeds and dimensional tolerances.
• Crane and forklift experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle tooling.

Responsibilities

• Set up and remove workpieces from machines per procedure.
• Use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators to verify tolerances.
• Perform in-process inspections and adjust offsets as needed.
• Position and secure pieces on machines with holding devices.
• Study blueprints to determine tolerances and procedures.

Custom Engineering Co. is a premier single source supplier specializing in the manufacturing of large-scale metal fabrications. We are currently seeking 1st and 2nd shift Full-time Machine Operator with experience in the steel industry to join our team at our Erie, PA location. The position offers an hourly rate of up to $22.00 BOE ($2.00 2nd shift differential) and the benefits shown below. MACHINE OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Included, but not limited to)

• - Set up and remove work pieces from a machine per procedure
• - Proficiently use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and gauges to ensure conformance of specified tolerances
• - Ability to perform in-process inspections at a machine and adjust various offsets to ensure conformance of workpieces as required
• - Position and secure workpieces on machines using measuring instruments, holding devices, hand tools, and cranes
• - Study blueprints, lay outs, sketches, and work orders to determine tolerances and work procedures
• - Ability to recognize tooling types -- facemill, drill, taps, etc.

Requirements

• - Knowledge of addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals and calculate tooling speeds/feeds
• - Prior machining experience
• - Knowledge in general machining practices
• - Crane and forklift experience
• - Ability to read and understand documents and blueprints
• - Ability to use hand tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, tape measure, etc.)
• - Ability to lift 50 pounds to insert tooling, materials, and use lifting devices

Salary Description

Up to $22.00 per hour
