Job summary

Guidant Measurements, a global leader in energy measurement solutions, seeks a Machine Operator in Erie, PA. You will set up and operate radial and gun drill machines to drill, ream, tap, countersink and spotface components, ensuring tolerances are met.

This full-time role requires reading blueprints, selecting tools, and coordinating with shifts to keep production flowing. Spends 95% of time in manufacturing with exposure to high-pressure equipment and noise; PPE provided; health and safety

Qualifications

• Self-starter with ability to operate equipment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to verify setups.
• Experience using measuring equipment and mapping measurements to parts.
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret SOPs and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Review job orders, drawings and routings to determine job requirements.
• Obtain tools, gauges, fixtures, etc. as needed to set up and complete the job.
• Load and unload parts to fixture.
• Make tooling adjustments to maintain dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Determine when cutting tools need to be replaced and make changes as needed.
• Operate machines simultaneously as required.
• Perform secondary operation, such as deburring and gauging during operation cycle of machine.
• Notify supervisor or other designated personnel regarding equipment or tooling malfunctions which cannot be immediately remedied.
• Keep work areas safe, clean and orderly.
• Utilize PPE appropriate to the task.

This position is responsible for:

• Reviewjoborders,drawingsandroutingstodeterminejobrequirements.
• Obtaintools,gages,fixtures,etc.asneededtoset-upandcompletethejob.
• Load and unload parts to fixture.
• Maketoolingadjustments in order to maintaindimensionswithinspecifiedtolerances.
• Determinewhencuttingtoolsneedto bereplacedandmakechangesasneeded.
• Operatemachinessimultaneouslyasrequired.
• Perform secondary operation, such as deburring and gaging during operation cycle of machine.
• Notifysupervisororotherdesignatedpersonnel regardingequipmentortoolingmalfunctions which cannot be immediately remedied. Suggest corrective action based on conditions observed.
• Keepworkareasafe, cleanandorderly.
• UtilizePersonalProtectiveEquipment (PPE)appropriatetothetask.
• Movematerialswithinthedepartmentasrequired.
• Followverbalandwritteninstructions,suchasmachinedispatchlist.
• Attend and participate in department meetings.
• Communicate effectively with operators on preceding and following work shifts.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Self-starter. Ability to operate equipment with minimal supervision and/or direction.
• Ability to use overhead/jib cranes and fork trucks/hand carts.
• Ability to read and interpret dimensions on blueprints to verify set-ups and part correctness.
• Ability to use measuring equipment and associate measurements from print to part and vice versa.
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret standard operating procedures and work instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Spends 95% of the time in amanufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in confined spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in confined workspaces and lifting daily.
