Job summary

Trinidad Benham Corporation in Dallas, TX is seeking a Machine Operator to operate packaging machinery and ensure products meet customer specifications.

You will read production schedules, set up equipment, perform quality checks, document outputs, and cooperate with maintenance and supervision. This is a full-time, non-exempt role with weekly pay and opportunities for advancement in a stable, century-old company.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills including touch screens.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow daily production schedule and material requirements.
• Transport needed packaging materials to production area.
• Set-up and operate packaging equipment per order specifications.
• Meet daily production requirements.
• Perform periodic quality control checks to ensure product is packaged per requirements.
• Perform changeovers and adjust flow of product through equipment.
• Accurately complete and maintain required documentation on product and machine downtime.
• Troubleshoot minor packaging problems and coordinate with maintenance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The Machine Operator is primarily responsible for efficiently operating packaging machinery to produce various products according to customer specifications.

Essential functions

• Read and understand daily production schedule and material requirements.
• Transport needed packaging materials to production area.
• Set-up and operate packaging equipment with correct materials and product based on order specifications. Safely and efficiently stack finished product where required.
• Meet daily production requirements.
• Perform periodic quality control checks to ensure product is packaged according to customer requirements (including checking end and back seals, and date codes).
• Perform efficient and timely change overs of product varieties; must follow pre-set guidelines and change out filtering screens based on product variety/size. Set, adjust and periodically check the flow of product through a foreign materials machine. Check magnet for any foreign materials and document and report as required.
• Accurately complete and maintain required documentation on product, materials/supplies, output and machine downtime.
• Troubleshoot minor packaging problems and make appropriate adjustments on equipment.
• Communicate with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
• Comply with company safety policies and maintain clean and orderly work area.
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Production Manager, Production Lead or other members of management.

WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

• Frequently (more than 75% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, use ladders and climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Lift, carry and/or move items up to 50 pounds, without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate; and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequently exposed to a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise.
• Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and mechanical, moving parts.
• Personal protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, and food safety-related items, is required.
