Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to meet specifications.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and tooling for production runs.
  • Inspect machinery and tooling for readiness prior to setup.
  • Monitor performance to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain 5S housekeeping and safe working conditions.
  • Record production data and complete shift reports accurately.
  • Communicate equipment or quality issues to leadership for resolution.
  • Follow GMPs and SOPs.
  • Assist in training production staff as needed.

Job description

Responsible for the preparation, set-up, start-up, operation, and monitoring of manufacturing equipment to produce quality products in accordance with company standards. This position ensures equipment is operating efficiently, products meet quality specifications, and all safety procedures are followed while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations.

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to produce parts and products according to specifications.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and tooling for production runs.
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and tooling prior to set-up to ensure machine readiness.
  • Monitor machine performance and production processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Clean and maintain equipment as directed targeting a 5S approach.
  • Ensure production rates, material consumption, and set-up times meet operational standards.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products from manual and automated equipment.
  • Identify equipment, process, or quality issues and communicate concerns to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials or products and coordinate corrective actions with leadership.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping activities.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Complete production records, shift reports, and required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Conduct shift hand-off communications, providing updates on job status, equipment conditions, and production issues.
  • React promptly to equipment downtime, malfunctions, or other production interruptions and notify supervision as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Assist in training and coaching production employees on equipment operation and best practices when required.
Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 Years of manufacturing or warehouse experience
  • Experience operating automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to set up, load, and unload materials from manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to operate equipment interfaces and simple manufacturing software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and support production goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching, training, and motivating others.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and standard operating procedures.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand/walk/move about specific work area
  • Lift to 75+ lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials as required by production needs.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to handle tools, controls, equipment, and materials.
  • Manufacturing and production environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, vibration, heat, and industrial materials.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and safety footwear.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, safety, and productivity standards.
