Job summary

Owen Industries’ PVS Structures division in Carter Lake, IA is hiring a Structural Steel Machine Operator for a 1st shift. Work Mon–Thu 5:30 AM–4:00 PM on a 4-day week to finish by early afternoon.

You will pull material, run processing equipment, read blueprints, measure to 1/16 inch, perform basic maintenance, and ensure safety and ISO procedures. Compensation is $20–$24 per hour with health and retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• Must read a tape measure to 1/16 inch accuracy.
• Able to read and interpret basic blueprints and job specifications.
• Experience operating structural steel or industrial equipment.
• Safe, detail-oriented, and reliable team player.

Responsibilities

• Pull material and run through processing equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Load, operate, monitor, and tend machines per specs and safety standards.
• Check programs against drawings and job specifications during production.
• Accurately measure material and finished parts with a tape measure to 1/16 inch precision daily.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance to keep equipment running.
• Inspect finished work and report deviations promptly.
• Support the crew and help keep production on schedule.
• Follow safety and ISO procedures every shift.

We're hiring a Structural Steel Machine Operator for our 1st shift — a 4-day work week that has you home by early afternoon every day with your Fridays free.

The Details

• Hours: Mon–Thu, 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Schedule: 4-day work week — Fridays off

What You'll Do

• Pull material and run it through processing equipment accurately and efficiently
• Load, operate, monitor, and tend machines in accordance with job specs and safety standards
• Check programs against drawings and job specifications before and during production runs
• Accurately measure material and finished parts using a tape measure to 1/16\" precision — this is a daily requirement, not an occasional one
• Perform basic preventive maintenance to keep equipment running at its best
• Inspect finished work for quality and report any deviations promptly
• Support the crew and help keep production on schedule
• Follow all safety and ISO procedures — every shift, no exceptions
