Job summary

Atlas Tube (Alabama) INC, part of Zekelman Industries, is hiring a Machine Operator for our Birmingham, AL facility. You will set up and run high-speed production equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to precise specs, while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with Plant Manager, Supervisors, Quality and Maintenance teams, maintaining records, supporting continuous improvement, and upholding LOTO and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and write English and maintain accurate production records and logs.
• Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently.
• Perform advanced setup and calibration of production equipment to meet specifications.
• Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production runs.
• Record and report quality deficiencies to supervisors and the Quality department.
• Maintain tooling and job-specific tools required for production completion.
• Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
• Complete production, changeover, and scrap reporting accurately and on time.
• Assist Maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and on-time attendance.

This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, advanced setup and calibration skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to efficient, high-quality production performance.You will collaborate with the Plant Manager, Production Supervisors, Quality, and Maintenance teams to keep equipment running safely, minimize scrap and downtime, and support continuous improvement.
