Machine Operator – 3rd Shift (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
We are looking for Machine Operators for our 3rd shift operation. The operator will perform to meet manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, quality, production and efficiency, and will provide indirect supervision to packers operating multiple production lines.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance, and report all observed safety hazards to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager. Participate in monthly safety topics and assessments.
- Ensure quality product through regular quality checks, by reading and verifying line orders and spec sheets and reporting out‑of‑spec product to the Team Lead or Production Supervisor immediately.
- Participate in employee‑driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area; meet plant and department housekeeping standards and perform additional housekeeping duties as needed.
- Handle start‑ups, thread equipment with film and draw tape, and use correct gloves and PPE at all times.
- Perform roll changes when replacing film or conducting a product change.
- Change out draw tape spools and be familiar with various sizes.
- Learn to adjust pinners, help tape pinners in bag machine and draw tape module, and clean pinners.
- Identify and replace dirty or worn parts such as bleed/vent slit blades, hole punch claw, seal bar tape, perforation knives, drive belts, and other components.
- Notify Team Lead and/or Production Supervisor when production or quality issues arise.
- Replace filters on bag winder, bag machine, draw tape module and unwind.
- Learn basics of resin, including terminology and how to read silo scales, equipment components and functions.
- Learn production terminology such as FPM (feet per minute), EEF, MEEF, PPLH and understand their impact.
- Track daily scrap.
- Operate an electric pallet jack and complete inspection reports.
- Read travelers and set up all orders within specifications.
- Troubleshoot assigned equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–2 years of hands‑on manufacturing experience in a production environment working with mechanical/electrical machinery. Blown film industry experience preferred, but not required.
