Job summary

Worldwide Fruit Limited is seeking a Machine Operative to support the production team in keeping machines safe and prepared for each run. You will ensure cleanliness, correct settings, and proper packaging details are verified.

You will monitor downtime, report faults, and follow safety procedures while assisting with line duties as needed to maintain smooth production flow.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to follow SOPs and work instructions.
• Attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure machine is clean and safe to operate before first run of each shift or after engineering work.
• Operate machines according to defined programme settings and verify packaging/labels.
• Monitor packaging on the line to minimise downtime and ensure sufficient stock for changes.
• Investigate and report machine faults to Engineering promptly to reduce downtime.
• Observe specific organic procedures and ensure non-qualified staff do not operate machinery.
• Assist with duties on the line such as packing, stacking or loading as required.
• Support Line Leader in managing agency staffing, stock, paperwork, delays, or unclear issues.
• Promote Hygiene, Health & Safety standards and environmental best practices.

Job description

As a Machine Operative you support the production team ensuring that the machines are safe to operate and are set up before each product run.

Responsibilities include:

• To ensure the machine is clean, safe to operate, with all guards and stops working and in place, before the machine is operated on the first run of each shift, or as and when any engineering works have been carried out. To ensure the correct traceability documentation (start-up check) is completed.
• To ensure the machine runs in accordance with technical specifications, by selecting the defined programme settings, and checking the correct packaging and label details are being used.
• To monitor packaging used on the line to minimise downtime on changeover, by ensuring there is always sufficient in place.
• To investigate and resolve machine issues wherever possible to reduce downtime. To report more serious faults to Engineering without delay.
• To ensure specific organic procedures are observed and carried out.
• To ensure non-qualified staff do not operate machinery and equipment, and that no unauthorised modifications are made.
• To undertake any duties on the line as required, for example, packing, stacking or loading.
• In conjunction with the Line Leader, manage problems in relation to agency staffing, stock, paperwork, delays, or anything not understood.
• To actively promote best practice in relation to Hygiene, Health & Safety standards and good housekeeping and support the Company’s efforts to minimise its environmental impact and adopt environmental best practise.
• To look to identify areas of continuous improvement and communicate ideas to relevant staff. To use tools and techniques such as 5s, root cause.
