Job summary

QXO is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure manufacturing assets operate efficiently, safely, and within budget. Responsibilities include maintenance of plant and warehouse facilities, equipment installations, and adherence to safety programs.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent plus 5+ years in maintenance of manufacturing equipment, with strong electrical skills and experience in welding, refrigeration, and hydraulics. Travel between locations is required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical/technical knowledge of plastic processing equipment and maintenance.
• Strong electrical background, able to work up to 440 volts.
• Experience with welding, refrigeration, compressed air systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and plumbing desirable.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and Fire Code regulations.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Executes Manufacturing Engineering processes in collaboration with production and planning.
• Develops processes and mechanical improvements to increase safety and efficiency.
• Manages equipment and facility maintenance and schedules; oversees vendors and contracts.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs production equipment.
• Implements Safety Program Objectives and monitors OSHA regulations.
• Maintains equipment and facilities per maintenance standards and procedures.
• Maintains spare parts inventory.
• Coordinates with subcontractors to execute maintenance programs.
• Reports safety concerns to management.
• Keeps maintenance records organized and up-to-date.

Your Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic assures that the mechanical assets of the company operate efficiently, effectively, safely, and within budget. This includes the maintenance of the structural aspects of the manufacturing plant and warehouse facilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Executes Manufacturing Engineering process. Collaborates with production and planning to understand production needs and the potential impact of equipment and systems performance on safety, schedules, quality and costs.

2. Develops Processes and Mechanical Improvements for production to increase safety, efficiency and effectiveness.

3. Manages Equipment and Facility Maintenance. Sets and reviews maintenance schedules for manufacturing equipment, building, grounds and environmental safety to support business objectives. Manages equipment, parts, service vendor relations and equipment contracts. Develops preventive and predictive maintenance goals and plans.

4. Installation, maintenance, and repair of production equipment.

5. Implements Safety Program Objectives. Monitors OSHA regulations. Updates safety-related policies and procedures. Communicates with state and federal OSHA regulators, and responds to requests as necessary.

6. Maintains manufacturing equipment and facilities according to maintenance standards set by organization. Follows documented maintenance procedures as well as utilizing creative problem solving when necessary to maintain equipment.

7. Maintains spare parts inventory

8. Facilitates relationships with sub-contractors when necessary to execute maintenance programs

9. Reports to management safety concerns

10. Maintains maintenance records in an orderly and accurate system

Essential Requirements:

1. Associate’s degree or equivalent education and work experience, and five or more years of experience in manufacturing equipment and facilities maintenance

1. Mechanical/technical knowledge of plastic processing equipment and plastic processing equipment maintenance.

2. Strong electrical background and experience. Comfortable working to voltages to 440

3. Experience with welding, refrigeration, compressed air systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and plumbing would be desirable.

4. Excellent project management skills

5. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and Fire Code regulations

6. Self-Motivated and ability to work independently

THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

Travel Requirements

Employees will be required to drive between various locations and/or between locations.

Must be able to travel by various means of transport, airplane, train, auto or boat.

This position also requires overnight travel.

Physical Requirements

This role requires prolonged standing and repetitive motions, including bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Role also requires good hand-eye coordination, hand dexterity, and physical strength. The position involves lifting up to 50 pounds, depending on the specific job duties.

$30.00 - $60.00
