Job summary

Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. seeks a software engineer to build web services, data pipelines, and ML infrastructure powering the company website. You will help design core ML algorithms for search, ads, recommendations, and personalization, collaborating across product teams and management.

The role supports remote work with occasional on-site expectations; you’ll contribute to scalable systems, analytics, and large-scale data processing in a retail tech environment.

Job Responsibilities

Job Requirements

• Minimum three years of professional software development experience.
• Strong coding skills, including proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to design and build highly performant and scalable systems.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills. You have basic familiarity with techniques in machine learning, analytics and/or related fields.
• Excellent collaborator and communicator and are eager to learn and grow!

Skills

• Experience with webservice development.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop/Spark.
• Experience with informational retrieval technologies such as search engines and recommendation systems.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience in data mining, learning to rank, deep learning, natural language processing, machine learning, and/or related fields.
• Proficiency with unit, integration, and performance testing.
• Reasonable overlap with the following relevant technologies and processes:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements
