Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Machine Design Engineer to lead end-to-end design and implementation of proprietary manufacturing equipment for global needs.

You will work with engineers, drafters and fabricators to deliver safe, efficient equipment while managing documentation, risk assessments and QA processes. The role requires creating 3D models, performing simulations, evaluating risks, and coordinating with suppliers and customers to meet performance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering with 3–6 years of experience.
• Experience in construction/machinery project management leading teams & vendors.
• Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Project; proficiency with Autodesk Suite.
• Familiar with robotics and machine controls; GD&T experience.
• Strong leadership, decision-making with risk, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Participate in conceptualization, design and development of proprietary manufacturing equipment.
• Create detailed 3D models, run functional simulations, verify design feasibility.
• Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure project documentation is captured and stored digitally.
• Monitor performance post-implementation and drive improvements
• Lead and motivate teams; manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate with end users, management, customers and suppliers
• Travel up to 10% (domestic and some international)
