Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Valley, Nebraska, is seeking a Fluid Power & Controls Engineer to design, integrate, and support hydraulic, pneumatic, and motion control systems for custom capital equipment and automation platforms across global operations.

You will own fluid power architectures through the full equipment lifecycle, collaborating with engineers and fabrication teams, performing sizing, calculations, drafting 3D models, and contributing to safety, reliability, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical or related field.
• 3+ years in fluid design/manufacturing engineering or machine design.
• Project management experience leading teams & vendors.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Autodesk 3D modelling tools.
• Experience with PLC hardware/software design and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems for custom capital equipment and automation platforms.
• Develop and maintain hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and layouts.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and manufacturability in designs.
• Perform sizing and performance calculations (flow, pressure, duty cycle, heat load).
• Create and revise 3D CAD models and detailed drawings.
• Collaborate with Controls Engineers for system integration and commissioning.
• Provide engineering support during build, installation, and testing.
• Contribute to risk assessments and cost-reduction initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline

3+ years of experience in fluid design/manufacturing engineering/machine design

Project management experience leading teams & managing vendors

PLC design/programming/troubleshooting familiarity

Strong communication and multitasking abilities
