Job summary

A manufacturing firm in Crystal Lake, Illinois is seeking a qualified Machine Builder / Assembler for assembling and starting up equipment. The role requires strong mechanical skills, including blueprint reading, and experience with various tools. You will be responsible for fitting machinery components, operating equipment, and conducting tests to ensure specifications are met. Description

General Kinematics is the premier manufacturer of vibrating equipment for the processing of bulk materials. From vibratory feeders to entire process systems, General Kinematics creates the solutions customers require to process even the most difficult materials.

We are currently looking for a qualified Machine Builder / Assembler to join our team. This position will be responsible for the assembly and startup of all equipment. Communication with customers and functional organizations within the company is an important part of this position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Fits and assembles machinery components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment.
  • Operate jib, overhead crane, air/hand-powered tools, and forklift.
  • Ability to problem solve new assembly problems as they arise and help to determine workable solutions.
  • Adapt, perform, and communicate in a fast-paced, high mix/low volume fabrication shop environment.
  • Ability to measure with, read, and comprehend measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, radius gages, go/no-go gages.
  • Ability to measure in feet and inches to 1/31” with a standard tape measure is a must.
  • Record production and inspection activities in computer-based business systems/programs.
  • Be aware of the importance of using correct lifting techniques.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
  • Understand and follow procedures that comply with Company policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work-related experience is preferred.
  • Must have a basic set of mechanic tools.
  • Strong mechanical ability and blueprint reading with evidence of related experience is required.
  • Prior welding, hydraulic, and electrical experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. continuously, climb, crouch, and crawl above and below equipment
  • Able to speak, read and write the English language.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must.
  • Good work ethic.
Pay:

Pay: $22.00 to $27.00 hourly. The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, geography, and internal equity.
