Job summary

Illinois Tool Works is seeking a Machine Operator B in Solon, OH to support packaging and production lines on the 11:00pm–7:00am shift. You will operate equipment, perform changeovers, and ensure quality while maintaining safety and accurate records.

You will mentor newer operators and contribute to continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor. The role emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, and adherence to SOPs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of manufacturing experience in automotive, bottling, packaging, or similar production environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and SOPs.
  • Experience operating manufacturing or packaging equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production documentation and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company systems.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot packaging and production equipment to meet daily production goals.
  • Perform equipment setup, changeovers, startups, shutdowns, and minor servicing.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards by identifying defects and documenting quality observations.
  • Review manufacturing work orders, bills of materials, and special instructions for accurate production.
  • Package finished products, palletize materials, apply labels, and prepare shipments.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, following safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records using company systems.
  • Support line clearances, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Promote safety by following EHS requirements and reporting improvements.
  • Assist with training and mentoring Machine Operator C team members.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience operating manufacturing or packaging equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production documentation and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company systems and applications.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and leadership.
  • Ability to work in a physically active manufacturing environment and lift up to 65 pounds as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating low-lift and sit-down forklift equipment.
  • Experience with packaging, robotic equipment, automated production lines, or manufacturing changeovers.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring production team members.

Compensation Information:

$20.40 - $24.00
