Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Norcross, GA, is seeking a Manufacturing Helper to support a fast-paced packaging operation on second shift. The role focuses on assisting machine operators, performing quality checks, and keeping tool areas clean and organized.

Candidates should be safety-minded, able to read basic manuals, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varying temperatures. The position offers first-day benefits and opportunities to grow within the company.

Qualifications

• A learning mindset.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (PPE provided).
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean workspace.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely in a fast-paced environment and a desire to learn manufacturing processes.
• Support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.
• Ensure tooling for the machine is on hand and assist with setups and jam-ups, keeping the area around machines clean.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.

• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
