The Student Health and Well-being (SHW) cluster at UC San Diego, reporting through UC San Diego Health System, leads efforts to foster a strong wellness culture that supports students' physical, mental, and spiritual health. This involves expanding the student health and well-being center into a comprehensive, interdisciplinary source of wellness services. The SHW cluster includes the departments of Student Health Services (SHS), Health Promotion Services (HPS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and SHW Administration.
SHS oversees primary urgent care, women's health, and specialty services for over 42,000 students, including laboratory, pharmacy, and imaging services. Staff comprises physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, technologists, and administrative personnel. SHS provides integrated clinical services and supports campus public health needs, maintaining accreditation and commitment to quality and safety improvements.
Greet and assist patients in a large multi-physician practice. Verify eligibility, check-in patients, and guide access to services. Measure vital signs and perform basic assessments. Schedule appointments, arrange referrals, answer calls, communicate test results, and provide health education. Maintain confidentiality. Assist healthcare providers with diagnostic procedures, administer injections, and perform tests such as TB skin testing and electrocardiograms. Record data, sterilize instruments, and support clinic operations, including COVID testing and vaccination.
Annual Full Pay Range: $57,671 (prorated if less than full-time)
Hourly Range: $27.62
Compensation factors include experience, skills, education, and organizational needs. The posted pay scale reflects the budgeted range, which may vary based on internal factors.
