Job summary

Harborview Medical Center is hiring a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) for its Float Pool. This full-time, 40-hour schedule runs Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm on the Day Shift.

The MA-C will perform vital signs, injections, room preparation, and prior authorizations, floating across units as needed. The role requires completion of an accredited MA program, WA MA-Certification within 6 months, and AHA BLS CPR.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Must obtain WA MA-Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Current AHA BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
  • Perform injections and assist provider with procedures.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms and handle documentation.
  • Submit prior authorizations for medications.
  • Report abnormal lab values and liaise between patient, family, and providers.
  • Assist in transporting patients as required.

Harborview – Float Pool has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C).

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Day Shift
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Our Float Pool family is dedicated and committed to our patient populations at Harborview. Our staff float to many different units in the hospital and are flexible and adaptable to the ever changing needs of the clinics.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:

$28.27 hourly

$40.44 hourly
