Job summary

UW Health seeks a Medical Assistant to join a float team across Primary and Specialty Care clinics. You will prepare patients, measure vitals, document complaints, and assist with medications and immunizations while promoting wellness.

The role offers part-time 90% FTE with a day shift, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for tuition benefits and referral bonuses. Certifications such as CMA/RMA/CCMA are valued and supported by apprenticeship options.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or relevant licensure.
  • LPN licensure required upon hire.
  • CCMA certification or MA apprenticeship program participation preferred.
  • One year MA experience with CMA/RMA/CCMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and obtain vital signs.
  • Document chief complaint, medications, and allergies; administer medications and immunizations.
  • Educate patients on wellness and healthy lifestyles.
  • Float among primary or specialty care clinics to support patient-family centered care.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
Accredited medical assistant program
LPN licensure
UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program
CCMA certification (as UWH employee)
UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated
1 year Medical Assistant experience with CMA/RMA/CCMA certification

Job description

Work Schedule:

This is a part time, 90% FTE, day shift position. Scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

Pay:

UW Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Work experience that is relevant to the position will be taken into consideration when determining the starting base pay.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following Required
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or
  • Licensure as an LPN or
  • Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or an Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program or
  • Attainment of the CCMA certification as a UWH employee or
  • Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated or
  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA Certification
Work Experience
  • 1 year as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Certified as MA, CMA, RMA, or CCMA within 1 Year Required or
  • Licensure as an LPN Upon Hire Required
  • If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification
  • CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
