Job summary

Altum Consulting is seeking a senior Microsoft 365 architect to own and shape a global platform. You will define technical direction, own architecture decisions end-to-end, and modernise our environments with emphasis on SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Entra ID.

The role combines design, implementation and operational ownership, offering leadership across distributed teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as senior engineer, technical lead or architect in Microsoft 365 environments.
• Hands-on with SharePoint Online and Exchange Online, including hybrid environments.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD with CA, Entra Connect, B2B, RBAC and app registrations.
• Advanced PowerShell with Microsoft Graph and modern automation approaches.
• Experience using Azure CLI, Terraform and GitHub-based IaC.
• Strong Azure Monitor / Log Analytics experience and KQL.
• Experience designing Intune / MDM across desktop and mobile platforms.
• Track record owning complex initiatives end-to-end across distributed/global teams.

The Microsoft 365 estate is treated as business-critical infrastructure supporting employees across multiple global offices.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants genuine ownership of a global Microsoft 365 platform. You’ll work alongside other experienced technical leads, shaping architecture while remaining close enough to the technology to design, build and operate solutions yourself.

What you’ll be doing

• Define the technical direction and engineering standards for a global Microsoft 365 environment.
• Take ownership of architecture decisions from initial design through implementation, rollout and ongoing operation.
• Modernise and simplify existing platforms, reducing unnecessary legacy and hybrid complexity.
• Shape the SharePoint Online environment, including governance, permissions, information architecture and content lifecycle.
• Lead the design and operation of Exchange Online, including mail routing, coexistence and hybrid messaging.
• Develop identity and access architecture across Entra ID, authentication, permissions and hybrid identity.
• Own mobile access strategy and Microsoft Intune configuration across corporate and personal devices.
• Design the supporting Azure services used for identity, automation, monitoring and Microsoft 365 operations.
• Improve monitoring and operational visibility so issues can be detected, understood and resolved before they become larger problems.
• Build automation and remediation capabilities that reduce repetitive administration and improve the resilience of the platform.

The position combines architecture, engineering and operational ownership rather than separating design from implementation.

What we’re looking for

• 7+ years of experience working at senior engineer, technical lead or architect level within Microsoft 365 environments.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with SharePoint Online and Exchange Online, including experience operating hybrid environments.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, including Conditional Access, Entra Connect, B2B, RBAC, enterprise applications, service principals and application proxy.
• Advanced PowerShell skills alongside experience with Microsoft Graph and modern automation approaches.
• Exposure to engineering tooling such as Azure CLI, Terraform and GitHub-based Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong experience with Azure Monitor / Log Analytics and KQL, together with a solid understanding of supporting Azure infrastructure.
• Experience designing and operating Intune / MDM environments across Windows, iOS and Android, including both corporate‑owned and BYOD scenarios.
• A track record of owning complex technical initiatives end‑to‑end, influencing senior engineers and stakeholders, and delivering across distributed or global teams.

The role is aimed at someone comfortable combining deep technical implementation with architectural decision‑making and long‑term platform ownership.
