Job summary

Sudlows is seeking an experienced M&E Design Lead for its Manchester-based team to drive complex data centre and critical infrastructure projects. You will act as the technical authority for integrated building services design, coordinating across mechanical, electrical, controls, fire and specialist systems.

You will lead design development, client communications and multidisciplinary reviews, ensuring resilience, buildability and compliance throughout feasibility to handover.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, building services or related engineering.
• Experience in M&E design and multidisciplinary coordination on complex projects.
• Data centre or critical environment experience desirable.
• Ability to travel within the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and approve engineering design within own discipline, lead multidisciplinary M&E design from feasibility to handover.
• Define design strategy, scope, responsibilities, deliverables and technical requirements with clients and stakeholders.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, fire and specialist systems, managing interfaces and change.
• Develop proposals and tender solutions that are compliant and practical.
• Plan, produce and review reports, drawings, specifications and submittals.
• Lead reviews, workshops, surveys and audits; manage safety, cost and programme risks.
• Support procurement, construction and commissioning teams to maintain design intent.
• Mentor engineers and improve design standards and professional practice.
