Job summary

RED ENGINEERING DESIGN LIMITED is seeking a Principal Design Manager (Data Centres) to lead design teams in London, Bicester or Newcastle upon Tyne. The role focuses on client relationship management, project delivery, and compliance with QA/QC standards across complex data centre environments.

You will mentor staff, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and drive profitability while coordinating with stakeholders and sub-consultants. Flexible travel and a strong engineering background are essential.

Qualifications

• BEng in an engineering discipline required.
• Professional membership MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE preferred.
• Chartered status (CEng or ChPP) highly desirable.
• 10+ years at senior engineer level or above.
• Experience leading design teams and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain high quality client-facing relationships and internal management, team leadership and project delivery.
• Ensure QA/QC and project performance in line with policy and contract scope.
• Lead and mentor project team; support delivery and business development.
• Ensure profitability and align with business objectives; contribute to planning.
• Manage sub-consultants and contract updates; prepare final documents.
• Maintain ethical standards and uphold company values in daily work.
