Job summary

Plante Moran is offering an internship in tax advisory focused on mergers and acquisitions. You will work with National Tax Office professionals to navigate tax implications of transactions and develop technical skills in tax and deal structuring.

You will gain exposure to transaction due diligence, tax planning, and client interactions, while contributing to practical business solutions and learning through hands-on projects.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Great interest in mergers, acquisitions, transaction advisory services, or tax consulting.
• Ability to analyze complex topics and clearly communicate conclusions both in writing and verbally.
• Balance technical analysis with practical business considerations.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field; or pursuing a JD or LLM.
• Intention to pursue CPA licensure or a JD or LLM.
• Academic success with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Prior coursework or interest in M&A, corporate taxation, or business law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consulting on tax issues related to restructuring, buying, or selling businesses.
• Conducting due diligence inquiries into target companies and preparing technical reports.
• Preparing projections of after-tax proceeds, tax benefits, and tax gross-up calculations.
• Consulting with clients and attorneys on transaction structuring and drafting tax aspects of agreements.
• Reviewing closed transactions to document terms of agreements, tax characterization, and tax attributes.
• Participating in client-facing discussions and communicating technical conclusions to engagement teams.
• Engaging with staff at all levels and with our client roster to deepen knowledge of tax and transaction advisory services.
