Job summary

Plante Moran seeks motivated interns to join its National Tax Office, assisting in tax advisory on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and related transactions. You will work with professionals to craft practical business solutions and develop technical tax skills.

You will gain exposure to transaction advisory services, tax due diligence, and deal structuring while contributing to client deliverables and learning how to communicate complex tax concepts to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, research, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interest in mergers and acquisitions, transaction advisory services, and tax consulting.
• Ability to translate complex topics into clear written and verbal conclusions.
• Balance technical analysis with practical business considerations.

Responsibilities

• Consulting on tax issues associated with restructuring, buying, or selling businesses.
• Conducting due diligence inquiries into target companies and preparing technical reports.
• Preparing projections of sell-side after-tax proceeds, buy-side tax benefits, and tax gross-up calculations.
• Consulting with clients and their attorneys on transaction structuring and drafting tax aspects of agreements.
• Reviewing closed transactions to document terms of legal agreements, tax characterization, and tax attributes.
• Participating in client-facing discussions and communicating technical conclusions to engagement teams.
• Deepening knowledge of tax consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction advisory services.
