Job summary

Ryan Specialty, LLC is seeking a Transactional Liability Underwriter Associate to build relationships with brokers and clients, support underwriters, and help with M&A deal execution. You will manage files, prepare policy wording, and assist with risk analysis to ensure smooth transaction progression.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance or Risk Management, at least 1 year in financial or M&A underwriting, and relevant licenses such as CMAA/ARM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Risk Management required.
• 1+ year of work experience in Financial or M&A Underwriting.
• Prescribed state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.

Responsibilities

• Supports underwriters by managing files, reviewing documents, and preparing policy wording and binder agreements.
• Compiles data and reporting on the transactional liability portfolio to aid risk management and strategy.
• Reviews deal documents and drafts representations and warranties, tax, and contingent liability insurance.
• Collects underwriting information (sector, deal structure, jurisdiction, indemnities) to inform decisions.
• Forges relationships with brokers, lawyers, PE firms, and deal principals to enable deals.
• Coordinates policy details and resolves issues with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Liaises with legal counsel to ensure clear, timely transaction communications.
• Uses training to deepen knowledge of underwriting principles and industry trends.
• Contributes to process improvements and future tooling for warranties/indemnity, tax & contingency insurance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Risk Management

Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor (CMAA)

Associate in Risk Management (ARM)

P&C licenses (state prescribed)
