Job Summary
The M&A Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting VDS’s consulting engagements by providing deep analysis and strategic insights for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. This position involves evaluating deal opportunities, conducting due diligence, and assisting clients—primarily private equity firms and portfolio companies—in optimizing transaction outcomes. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical thinker with M&A experience, capable of thriving in a remote, independent work environment while delivering exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate potential merger, acquisition, or divestiture opportunities, focusing on manufacturing and related sectors
- Perform due diligence, including financial, operational, and market assessments, to identify risks and opportunities in prospective deals
- Collaborate with consulting teams to develop strategic recommendations for private equity clients, ensuring alignment with operational excellence goals
- Prepare comprehensive deal memos, financial reports, and presentations for client stakeholders, highlighting key findings and actionable insights
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry benchmarks to support deal valuation and negotiation strategies
- Assist in structuring deals, including pricing models, earn-outs, and integration plans, with a focus on maximizing value creation
- Provide insights on supply chain and operational synergies to enhance post-merger integration for portfolio companies
- Support VDS’s training initiatives by sharing M&A expertise with internal teams and clients, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, or private equity, with exposure to manufacturing or consulting a plus
- Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and M&A tools (e.g., Capital IQ, PitchBook, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of deal structuring, due diligence processes, and post-merger integration strategies
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and market dynamics
- Superior communication skills, with experience presenting findings to senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to work independently in a fully remote setting, managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Familiarity with operational excellence frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an advantage

Compensation and Structure
- This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with competitive project-based compensation
