Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) in Corpus Christi, Texas. You will provide clinical support and nursing care under providers and RNs, performing injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and other duties per clinic policy.

Key requirements include an active LVN license, BLS, IV certification if required, strong communication skills, and proficiency with electronic medical records. The role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted State Vocational/Practical Nursing license
• IV certification, if required by clinic
• Current BLS certification
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures
• Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records
• Proven effective listening and communication skills; proper grammar and spelling
• Proven good communication and customer service skills
• Demonstrated ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Demonstrated ability to perform medical procedures, give injections and perform phlebotomy
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with providers/staff, patients, and the community

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing duties within the LVN/LPN scope (injections, medications, EKGs, phlebotomy) as required by state board
• Coordinates patient care as directed by providers and policies
• Documents chief complaint and rooms patients according to policy
• Telephonically obtains information on chief complaint and relays to provider
• Records patient assessment and care in the medical record accurately
• Reviews patient records and reports to provider and RN
• Maintains patient confidentiality and safe environment
• Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms
• Follows infection control policies and medicates management procedures
• If IV certified, starts peripheral lines and monitors IV flow
• Performs other related duties as assigned
