Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse II for the Vernon State Hospital in Vernon, TX. The LVN II administers medications, assists RNs, and performs complex nursing tasks within state hospital standards, contributing to recovery-oriented care for Texans.

Responsibilities include documenting in the EHR, supervising learners, and ensuring safety and quality of care. Requires TX LVN license, CPR, and ability to work a shift that may include weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited LVN program.
• Six months of employment as an LVN is required; twelve months preferred.
• Six months of experience working with persons with mental illness is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and treatments as directed.
• Monitors weight, diet, vital signs, and health status after treatments.
• Documents treatments and observations in the medical record (EHR or paper).
• Trains new LVN staff and coordinates with RNs and physicians.
• Performs nursing procedures and collaborates with the care team.
