Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Current Texas LVN license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, evaluate, and document patient histories.
• Measure and record vital signs.
• Assist licensed medical staff and/or Registered Nurses during patient examinations.
• Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as needed.
• Prepare and administer medications according to the Five Rights of Medication Administration.
• Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory procedures.
• Manage referrals, including processing, tracking, and closing referrals upon receipt of consultation reports.
• Receive and document STAT calls and communicate results to providers.
• Complete data entry within the EHR system, including lab results and screenings.
• Coordinate authorizations and identify in-network service providers for therapy referrals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life of an LVN

• Obtain, evaluate, and document patient histories

• Receive and document STAT calls from Quest and ARA and communicate results to providers
• Complete data entry within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, including lab results, hemoglobin, and lead screenings
• Coordinate authorizations and identify in-network service providers for speech, occupational, and physical therapy referrals
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
• Current and valid Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous nursing experience in a clinic or outpatient setting
• Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills
