Job summary

Lone Star Circle of Care in Austin, TX is seeking a compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support patient care under supervision of licensed clinicians. You will perform focused nursing assessments, collect specimens, administer medications, and document in the EHR.

We offer a competitive pay starting at $24 per hour, a $2,500 sign-on bonus, and paid time off. The ideal candidate holds a Texas LVN license and BLS certification, with clinic experience preferred, and a patient-centered

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited LVN program.
• Current Texas LVN license required.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, evaluate, and document patient histories.
• Measure and record vital signs.
• Assist licensed medical staff during examinations.
• Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens.
• Prepare and administer medications per Five Rights of Medication Administration.
• Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory procedures.
• Coordinate authorizations and in-network therapy referrals.
• Document results in the EHR and communicate with providers.

A Day in the Life of an LVN

• Obtain, evaluate, and document patient histories
• Measure and record vital signs
• Assist licensed medical staff and/or Registered Nurses during patient examinations
• Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as needed
• Prepare and administer medications according to the Five Rights of Medication Administration
• Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory procedures
• Manage referrals, including processing, tracking, and closing referrals upon receipt of consultation reports
• Receive and document STAT calls from Quest and ARA and communicate results to providers
• Complete data entry within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, including lab results, hemoglobin, and lead screenings
• Coordinate authorizations and identify in-network service providers for speech, occupational, and physical therapy referrals
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
• Current and valid Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous nursing experience in a clinic or outpatient setting
• Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills
