Job summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Electrical Test Technician for opportunities in Plano, McKinney, and Garland, TX. This position inspects, tests, troubleshoots, and verifies low- and medium-voltage switchgear and related equipment prior to shipment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of LV/MV switchgear testing experience, strong knowledge of electrical test equipment, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision; factory testing and adherence to NEC, NFPA,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of LV/MV switchgear testing in a factory environment or relevant military experience.
• Hands-on experience testing electrical power distribution equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and meet production/test schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-shipment factory testing of LV/MV switchgear, protective relays, circuit breakers, panelboards, ATS, and related control systems.
• Perform relay functional and coordination testing.
• Conduct insulation resistance testing using a megger.
• Perform dielectric withstand (hipot) testing.
• Conduct contact resistance, timing, and trip testing.
• Perform primary and secondary injection testing as required.
• Verify control circuits and communication circuits and equipment functionality.
• Validate equipment against project specifications and engineering drawings.
• Operate relay test sets, megohmmeters, hipot testers, multimeters, timing test sets, and injection systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical and equipment anomalies identified during testing.
• Document defects and non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions with engineering/manufacturing.
• Maintain testing documentation, including test reports and photos.
