Job summary

The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, part of the Auberge Collection, seeks a Restaurant Host to uphold our welcoming atmosphere and ensure guests have a positive experience from arrival to departure. You will greet guests, manage check-ins and seating, answer phones, take reservations, and coordinate with staff to optimize guest placements.

You will maintain station cleanliness, update guest profiles, ensure menus and wine lists are stocked, resolve complaints, and guide servers in setup.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in customer service or hospitality, preferably in a high-end setting.
• Strong communication skills and fluent English.
• Must be of minimum age to serve alcohol.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to obtain state/local certifications, such as food handlers or alcohol training, as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly, handle check-ins and seating.
• Answer phones, take reservations, take in-room dining orders, and maintain accurate records in reservation systems.
• Coordinate with restaurant and/or pool staff to optimize guest placements, avoiding overbooking and ensuring smooth flow.
• Assist with preparation of station charts, assign stations, and guide servers and support staff in optimal table set-up.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the host station and assigned work areas.
• Monitor and update guest profiles, VIP arrivals, and special requests using reservation systems.
• Ensure menus and wine lists are clean, up-to-date, and well-stocked at all times.
• Resolve guest complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction.
• Familiarize yourself with all hotel services, local attractions, and respond accurately to guest inquiries.
• Collaborate with Food and Beverage Management to set a positive tone for the restaurant environment.
