Job summary

Morningside Group seeks a Maintenance Technician for Beekman on Broadway in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The role handles vacant apartment turnover, basic repairs, and preventive maintenance across a 540-unit community, with a focus on timely move-ins and resident satisfaction.

The position requires 1+ years in maintenance, flexibility for after-hours emergencies, and a Monday–Friday schedule with some weekend shifts during peak periods. Compensation includes benefits and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of general maintenance or related experience.
• Willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Typical schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am–4:30pm; weekends during peak move-in activity.
• Must live nearby to ensure timely emergency response.
• CFC type II universal certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Restore vacant apartments back to rent-ready condition after move-outs.
• Demonstrate carpentry, drywall, painting, and general craftsmanship skills.
• Make basic repairs to appliances, pool equipment, and other misc. equipment.
• Replace plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, electrical receptacles and switches.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Respond to resident service requests and ensure timely completion.
• Serve as on-call emergency contact after hours in rotation with staff.
• Work with team, contractors, and vendors to move residents into rent-ready homes.
• Routine preventative maintenance program work.
• Assist with coordinating and overseeing vendors/contractors.
• Perform janitorial duties as necessary.
• Provide superior customer service to residents and prospects.
• Comply with the Federal Fair Housing Act.
• Other duties as required.
