Job summary

Sotheby’s in New York is seeking a Temporary Client Experience Representative to be the primary contact for client inquiries by phone and email, handling estimates, account needs, exhibitions, bidding, and post-sale steps. You will manage daily tickets, maintain detailed records, and ensure responses meet Sotheby’s standards.

The role is a 6-month, full-time contract with possible overtime and standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Exceptional client service skills with strong abilities in active listening, empathy, conflict resolution and relationship management.
• Demonstrable experience managing high volumes of client enquiries, cases or support tickets within a service-driven environment.
• Experience working against service level agreements and performance targets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with outstanding attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Brand Ambassador for Sotheby’s, presenting a warm, hospitable experience for clients.
• Primary contact for client enquiries via telephone and email (auction estimates, account maintenance, exhibitions, bidding, post-sale navigation).
• Manage daily ticket volumes via Freshdesk, prioritise, action and resolve within SLAs.
• Maintain detailed records of client interactions and case activity.
• Deliver timely, professional communications reflecting client service standards.
• Handle client complaints with empathy and a solution-focused approach.
• Collaborate with specialists, finance, shipping and other teams for seamless outcomes.
• Identify service failures or recurring issues and escalate as needed.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives.
