Qualifications

• ABTS board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Georgia
• Completed an accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency
• Demonstrate excellence in clinical judgment, technical skills, and patient-centered care
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork
• Interest in academic surgery through research, education, and scholarly activity

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of adult lung transplantation.
• Provide surgical management and clinical care for lung transplant patients at Emory University Hospital.
• Participate in donor procurement and organ recovery activities as required.
• Share on-call responsibilities for lung transplantation.
• Collaborate with the Surgical Director and Medical Director to support program growth.
• Collaborate with pulmonary medicine, critical care, anesthesia, infectious disease, perfusion, and transplant coordinators.
• Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and infection control initiatives.
• Engage in outreach to referring providers and national program visibility through conferences and publications.
• Develop, evaluate, and implement new products, procedures, and programs for lung transplantation.
