Job summary

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Canning Thoracic Institute Lung Transplant Team. The APP will provide primary management for inpatients on the transplant unit (24/7 coverage, 14 beds) and consults in other units, with 100% inpatient focus.

Schedule: 3 x 12hr shifts with admin time, rotating days/nights; some holidays; no on-call; may work 100% nights if preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited program in nursing or Physician Assistant.
• Current Illinois RN license and APRN credentialing.
• Acute care certification for APRNs and licensing requirements in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care and manage patients in the transplant unit.
• Prescribe medications and orders; interpret labs and imaging as privileges allow.
• Educate patients and families; document care in medical records; participate in quality improvement.

Education

Master’s degree in nursing OR master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program

Current Illinois RN license
