Zusammenfassung

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Canning Thoracic Institute's Lung Transplant Team in Chicago. The APP will provide primary management on the inpatient Lung Transplant Unit (24/7, 14 beds) and consult coverage for transplant patients in other units.

3 x 12hr shifts with admin time, some holidays; no on-call. The role emphasizes clinical expertise, teaching, research involvement, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Acute care certification required for APRNs.
• Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in Illinois; national APRN certification.
• Privilege and credentialing through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Aufgaben

• Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status through histories and exams.
• Provides direct clinical care to patients in a 24/7 inpatient lung transplant unit.
• Prescribes/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets labs and procedures.
• Evaluates patients for further health care needs.
• Provides comprehensive teaching to patients and families.
• Documents care and education in the medical record; coordinates with other disciplines.
• Participates in quality improvement and research initiatives.
• Maintains certifications and credentialing; acts as a patient advocate.
